Bedaquiline 100mg, Oral tablet

Alcohol

· Severity: Major

· Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication increases the risk of liver injury. Contact your care team right away if you experience right upper belly pain, loss of appetite, nausea, light-colored stool, dark yellow or brown urine, yellowing skin or eyes, or unusual weakness or fatigue.

Bedaquiline 100mg, Oral tablet

Grapefruit juice

· Severity: Major

· Notes for Consumers: Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking bedaquiline. Drinking grapefruit juice may increase the blood levels of bedaquiline and lead to side effects. Your doctor will closely monitor your condition. Report any unusual or worsening side effects to your prescriber, like abdominal pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, nausea, yellowing of skin or eyes, weakness, or other problems.

· Notes for Professionals: Concurrent use of bedaquiline and a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor, such as grapefruit juice, for more than 14 days should be avoided unless the benefits justify the risks. When administered together, grapefruit may inhibit the metabolism of bedaquiline resulting in increased systemic exposure (AUC) and potentially more adverse reactions, such as QT prolongation.
