ELEXACAFTOR; TEZACAFTOR; IVACAFTOR (el EX a KAF tor; TEZ a KAF tor; EYE va KAF tor) treats cystic fibrosis (CF). It works by helping your body balance the level of salt and water in your lungs. This prevents the buildup of mucus and reduces the symptoms of CF.

    Notes for Consumers: Do not take Grapefruit juice or grapefruit-containing foods and Elexacaftor; Tezacaftor; Ivacaftor together without talking to your health care professional. Side effects from Elexacaftor; Tezacaftor; Ivacaftor may get worse if you drink Grapefruit juice or consume grapefruit-containing foods. Notify your prescriber if you have any new or worsening side effects such as dark yellow or brown urine, general ill feeling or flu-like symptoms, light-colored stools, loss of appetite, nausea, right upper belly pain, unusually weak or tired, yellowing of the eyes and skin.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit juice or grapefruit-containing foods while taking elexacaftor; tezacaftor; ivacaftor as coadministration may increase elexacaftor; tezacaftor; ivacaftor exposure. Elexacaftor, tezacaftor, and ivacaftor are CYP3A4 substrates (ivacaftor is a sensitive substrate); fosamprenavir is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor. Coadministration of a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor increased elexacaftor exposure by 2.8- fold, tezacaftor exposure by 4.5-fold, and ivacaftor exposure by 15.6-fold.
