HYLAN G-F 20 (HI lan G F 20) treats arthritis of the knee. It works by acting like a lubricant and cushion in the joint. This helps the joint move easily, which reduces pain.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is injected into the knee joint. It is given by your care team in a hospital or clinic setting.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Do not take this medication with any of the following:
-Certain skin disinfectants, such as benzalkonium chloride
-Other injections for the joint, such as steroids or anesthetics
This list may not describe all possible interactions. Give your health care provider a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine.

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse. Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medication. Most people get pain relief for up to 6 months after treatment.
Avoid strenuous activities (high-impact sports, jogging) or major weight-bearing activities for 48 hours after the injection.

Keep appointments for follow-up doses. It is important not to miss your dose. Call your care team if you are unable to keep an appointment.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Painful swelling, warmth, or redness of the skin, blisters or sores
-Severe pain, redness, warmth, or swelling in joint where injected
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Joint pain
-Pain, redness, or irritation at injection site
-Swelling in the joint where injected
