PHENTOLAMINE (fen TAA luh meen) treats high blood pressure caused by pheochromocytoma, a tumor in the adrenal glands. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which decreases the amount of work the heart has to do. It may also be used to help diagnose pheochromocytoma. It can be used to prevent and treat tissue injury if some injected medications leak out of the vein into the surrounding tissue. It works by relaxing nearby blood vessels. This increases blood flow to the area.
