MEPOLIZUMAB (me poe LIZ ue mab) treats asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is often used when other medications have not worked well enough or cannot be tolerated. It may also be used to treat other immune system disorders. It works by decreasing the amount of certain white blood cells (eosinophils) in your body. This helps decrease inflammation. Do not use it to treat a sudden asthma attack or COPD flare-up. It is a monoclonal antibody.
