BRIMONIDINE (bri MOE ni deen) treats rosacea. It works by narrowing the blood vessels under the skin. This reduces flushing and skin color changes.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is for external use only. Use your medication at regular intervals. Do not use it more often than directed. Do not stop using except on the advice of your care team.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

-Alcohol
-Certain medications for blood pressure, heart disease, irregular heartbeat
-MAOIs, such as Carbex, Eldepryl, Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate
-Medications that cause drowsiness or tiredness

Do not get this medication in your eyes. If you do, rinse out with plenty of cool tap water.
If anyone, especially a child, accidentally swallows this medication, they may have serious side effects and need to be treated in a hospital. Get medical help right away if anyone swallows this medication and has lack of energy, trouble breathing or stops breathing, a slow heartbeat, confusion, sweating, restlessness, muscle spasms, or twitching.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Low blood pressure—dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, blurry vision
-Slow heartbeat—dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, confusion, trouble breathing, unusual weakness or fatigue
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Acne
-Facial flushing, redness
-Mild skin irritation, redness, or dryness
-Pale skin, loss of color around application site

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
