CLOTRIMAZOLE (kloe TRIM a zole) treats ear infections caused by fungus. It belongs to a group of medications called antifungals. It will not treat infections caused by bacteria or viruses.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Use this medication only in your ears. Use it as directed on the label. Wash your hands before and after use. Warm the vial by holding it in your hands for 1 to 2 minutes. Lie down with the ear you are treating facing up. Do not let the tip of the vial touch your ear, fingers, or any other surface. Put the entire dose from the vial into your ear. Gently pull your ear lobe upward and outward. Stay on your side for 1 minute to help the drops move into your ear. If you need to treat both ears, repeat these steps for the other ear. Use the full course of this medication unless your care team tells you to stop it early. Keep using it even if you think you are better.
This medication comes with INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE. Ask your pharmacist for directions on how to use this medication. Read the information carefully. Talk to your pharmacist or care team if you have questions.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

Interactions are not expected. Do not use other products in your ear without talking to your care team.

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Burning or tingling sensation in the ear
-Headache
-Pain at application site
-Ringing in ears

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Do not open the foil pouch until ready to use. Keep unopened vials in the foil pouch. Use opened vials right away; get rid of the vial after use. Get rid of any unused medication 30 days after first opening the foil pouch.
To get rid of medications that are no longer needed or have expired:
-Take the medication to a take-back program. Check with your pharmacy or law enforcement to find a location.
-If you cannot return the medication, ask your pharmacist or care team how to get rid of it safely.
