LOPERAMIDE; SIMETHICONE (loe PER a mide; sye METH i kone) treats occasional diarrhea. It also treats the symptoms of gas, such as fullness, pressure, and bloating. It works by slowing down an overactive bowel, which decreases the number of bowel movements you have. It also works by making it easier to pass gas through your digestive tract and exit your body. It is often used for a short period of time.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Take this medication by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the label. Do not take it more often than directed.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While this medication may be prescribed for children as young as 6 years of age for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

-Alosetron
This medication may also interact with the following:

-Clarithromycin
-Erythromycin
-Gemfibrozil
-Itraconazole
-Ketoconazole
-Quinidine
-Quinine
-Ranitidine
-Ritonavir
-Saquinavir
This list may not describe all possible interactions. Give your health care provider a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine.

Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better within two days or if they get worse. Do not use doses higher than those prescribed by your care team or listed on the label. Check with your care team right away if you develop a fever, severe stomach pain, swelling or bulging, or if you have black tar-like stools.
This medication may affect your coordination, reaction time, or judgment. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Sit up or stand slowly to reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Drinking alcohol with this medication can increase the risk of these side effects.
Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy, and drinking plenty of water may help. Contact your care team if the problem does not go away or is severe. Drinking plenty of water can also help prevent dehydration that can occur with diarrhea.
People over the age of 65 years may have a more variable response to the effects of this medication, and are more susceptible to the effects of dehydration.

This does not apply. This medication is not for regular use. Only take this medication while you continue to have loose bowel movements. Do not take more medication than recommended by the packaging label or by your care team.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Heart rhythm changes—fast or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, chest pain, trouble breathing
-Redness, blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
-Severe stomach pain
-Trouble passing urine
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Bloating
-Blurry vision
-Constipation
-Dizziness
-Drowsiness
-Dry mouth
-Gas
-Nausea
-Vomiting

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
