LIDOCAINE (LYE doe kane) prevents or treats pain, including during a procedure. It numbs the area where it is applied, which blocks your nerves from sending pain signals to your brain. It belongs to a group of medications called local anesthetics.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is only for use in the eye. It is usually given by your care team in a hospital or clinic setting.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Do not touch, wipe, or rub your eyes after application of this medication. You could hurt the eye without feeling it. Do not try to put contact lenses in your eyes until the effect of this medication has worn off.
This medication should not be used for prolonged periods of time.

-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Change in vision
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Burning or stinging of the eyes after use
-Headache
