DOLUTEGRAVIR (DOE loo TEG ra veer) helps manage the symptoms of HIV infection. It works by limiting the spread of HIV in the body. This medication is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and it may still be possible to spread HIV to others while taking it. It does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

    Notes for Consumers: Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking this medication. Grapefruit may alter the effects of your medication. Serious side effects may occur. Contact your care team right away if you experience new or worsening side effects.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during dolutegravir treatment due to the risk for increased dolutegravir exposure and adverse reactions. Dolutegravir is a CYP3A substrate and grapefruit juice is a CYP3A inhibitor.
