TAFLUPROST (ta FLU prost) treats conditions with increased pressure of the eye, such as glaucoma. It works by decreasing the amount of fluid in the eye, which helps lower eye pressure.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is only for use in the eye. Use it as directed on the prescription label. Wash your hands before and after use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper or tube to your eye, fingertips, or other surfaces. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close your eyes gently to spread the drops. Keep using this medication unless your care team tells you to stop.
If you wear contact lenses, take them out before using this medication. Wait 15 minutes after using the medication before putting your lenses back in.
If you use other eye medications, wait 5 minutes between using each medication.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without talking to your care team.

Visit your care team for regular health checks while on this medication.
This medication may cause dry eyes and blurred vision. If you wear contact lenses, you may feel some discomfort. Lubricating eye drops may help. See your care team if the problem does not go away or is severe.
This medication can change the color of your eye, eyelashes, and eyelid. The colored part of your eye (the iris) may become darker. This change may not go away. Your eyelashes may also grow longer, thicker, or more full. If you use this medication in only one eye, the treated eye may look different from the other eye. Talk to your care team if you notice changes or have any questions or concerns.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Change in vision such as blurry vision, seeing halos around lights, vision loss
-New or worsening eye pain, redness, irritation, or discharge
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Change in eye, eyelash, or eyelid color
-Cough
-Dry eyes
-Eye irritation or itching
-Headache
-Increase in length, thickness, or number of eyelashes

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
If you get this medication by mail, check the date on the label. Do not use it if it arrives more than 2 days after the pharmacy filled it.
Unopened foil pouches
Store in the refrigerator. Protect from moisture. Get rid of any unused medication after it expires.
Opened foil pouches
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F) for up to 30 days. Keep unused single-dose containers in their original foil pouch. Protect from moisture. Get rid of unused medication 30 days after opening the foil pouch, or after it expires, whichever is first.
To get rid of medications that are no longer needed or have expired:
-Take the medication to a take-back program. Check with your pharmacy or law enforcement to find a location.
-If you cannot return the medication, check the label or package insert to see if the medication should be thrown out in the garbage or flushed down the toilet. If you are not sure, ask your care team. If it is safe to put it in the trash, empty the medication out of the container. Mix it with cat litter, dirt, coffee grounds, or another unwanted substance. Seal the mixture in a bag or container. Put it in the trash.
