• Interaction: Cannabis• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Discuss cannabis use with your care team. The effects of your medication may be altered if used with cannabis. Call emergency services right away if you experience slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, or trouble staying awake.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid cannabis use while taking CNS depressants due to the risk for additive CNS depression and potential for other cognitive adverse reactions. -

• Interaction: Alcohol• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication can cause serious side effects, such as central nervous system (CNS) depression, and can increase the risk of falling. Call emergency services right away if you experience symptoms of CNS depression: slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, trouble staying awake.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid alcohol consumption while taking CNS depressants. • Interaction: Grapefruit juice• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Do not take grapefruit juice together with Dronabinol, THC without approval from your prescriber. You may feel drowsy or more tired when taking grapefruit juice together with Dronabinol, THC. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how grapefruit juice and Dronabinol, THC affect you. Discuss any new or worsening side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, and trouble concentrating with your health care provider.• Notes for Professionals: Use caution if coadministration of dronabinol with grapefruit juice is necessary, and monitor for an increase in dronabinol-related adverse reactions (e.g., feeling high, dizziness, confusion, somnolence). Dronabinol is a CYP2C9 and 3A4 substrate; grapefruit juice is a moderate inhibitor of CYP2C9 in vitro, and a strong 3A4 inhibitor. Concomitant use may result in elevated plasma concentrations of dronabinol.
