Brexpiprazole 1mg, Oral tablet
• Interaction: Cannabis• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Discuss cannabis use with your care team. The effects of your medication may be altered if used with cannabis. Call emergency services right away if you experience slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, or trouble staying awake.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid cannabis use while taking CNS depressants due to the risk for additive CNS depression and potential for other cognitive adverse reactions. -
Brexpiprazole 1mg, Oral tablet
• Interaction: Alcohol• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication can cause serious side effects, such as central nervous system (CNS) depression, and can increase the risk of falling. Call emergency services right away if you experience symptoms of CNS depression: slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, trouble staying awake.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid alcohol consumption while taking CNS depressants. Alcohol consumption may result in additive CNS depression. -
Brexpiprazole 1mg, Oral tablet
• Interaction: Grapefruit juice• Severity: Moderate• Notes for Consumers: Tell your health care provider if you drink grapefruit juice regularly. An interaction between Brexpiprazole and Grapefruit juice is possible, but they may be used together. Grapefruit juice may change the amount of Brexpiprazole in the blood. If you drink Grapefruit juice regularly, do not change how often or how much grapefruit juice you drink until you talk to your health care provider. If you experience nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, tremor or other unusual effect, contact your health care provider.• Notes for Professionals: Brexpiprazole is partially metabolized by CYP3A4 and grapefruit and grapefruit juice inhibit CYP3A4 metabolism in gut enterocytes; therefore, brexpiprazole metabolism may be decreased. Patients should not significantly adjust their intake of grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking brexripiprazole. As with drugs that significantly inhibit the CYP3A4 pathway, consideration should be given to decreasing the brexpiprazole dose.
