DORNASE ALFA (DOOR nace AL fa) treats cystic fibrosis (CF). It works by thinning mucus, making it easier to clear from the lungs. This prevents the buildup of mucus, which improves breathing and reduces the risk of infection.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is for inhalation using a nebulizer. Nebulizers make a liquid into an aerosol that you breathe in through your mouth or your mouth and nose and into your lungs. Do not mix this medication with other medications in the nebulizer. Take it as directed on the prescription label. Do not use it more often than directed.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed. While this medication may be prescribed for children as young as 5 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected. Do not mix with any other medications in the nebulizer.

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Fever
-Hoarseness
-Irritation inside the mouth or throat
-Runny or stuffy nose
-Sore throat
-Upset stomach

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store in a refrigerator or at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Protect from light. Avoid exposure to extreme heat.
Refrigeration (preferred): Store in the refrigerator. Keep unopened vials in the foil pouch. Do not open a vial until you are ready to use it. An opened vial must be used right away. Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
Room Temperature: This medication may be stored at room temperature for up to 24 hours. Keep unopened vials in the foil pouch. Do not open a vial until you are ready to use it. To get rid of medications that are no longer needed or have expired:
