STANNOUS FLUORIDE (STAN uhs FLOOR ide) prevents tooth decay. It may also be used to reduce gum and tooth sensitivity. It works by making your teeth stronger. Fluoride is a mineral that plays an important role in the health of your teeth and bones.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is used in the mouth. DO NOT SWALLOW. Follow the directions on the prescription label. For best results, do not eat, drink, or rinse mouth for at least 30 minutes after use. Do not use your medication more often than directed.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While this medication may be prescribed for children as young as 6 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected.

Do not use this medication unless your care team prescribes it for you. Ask your care team for advice, especially if you move to a new area where the amount of fluoride in the water may be different. See your care team regularly.
If the rinse is accidentally swallowed, contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Prolonged daily ingestion can cause abnormal tooth enamel. Enamel is the hard part on the outside of the tooth.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Change in tooth color
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Irritation inside the mouth or throat

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
