The effects of your medication may be altered if used with cannabis.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid cannabis use during lidocaine treatment due to decreased exposure of lidocaine which may alter its efficacy. Cannabis use induces CYP1A2 and lidocaine is a CYP1A2 substrate. The induction potential of cannabis is greatest with chronic inhalation. Other routes of administration or sporadic use may have less of an effect.
