GUAIFENESIN; PHENYLEPHRINE (gwye FEN e sin; fen il EF rin) treats the symptoms of the common cold, allergies, or flu. It works by decreasing a runny or stuffy nose and loosening mucus. It is a combination of a decongestant and an expectorant.

CHILDRENS STUFFY NOSE-COLD (Generic for CHILD MUCINEX STUFFY NOSE-CHST) Lifestyle Interactions

  • Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4mg, Oral capsule

    • Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    • Severity: Moderate
    • Notes for Consumers: Grapefruit juice may increase the actions of Tamsulosin and potentially increase its side effects. If the blood pressure drops too low while taking tamsulosin, you may become dizzy or feel faint. To limit this interaction, do not stand or sit up too quickly. You should also limit or avoid grapefruit juice while taking Tamsulosin. Contact your prescriber if you have dizziness that does not go away.
    • Notes for Professionals: Hepatic cytochrome P450 enzymes 2D6 and 3A4 are responsible for the extensive metabolism of tamsulosin. Although no clinical studies have been done, tamsulosin should be used with caution with inhibitors of CYP3A4 isoenzymes (e.g., grapefruit juice).
